On kind of a whim, I decided to paint the vanity in one of our bathrooms. This bathroom is the one out of the three we have that has not been touched since 1975.
The tub and sink are avocado green. The bathroom counter is a swirled "marble" green and cream. The vanity was painted white by the previous owner, who left clues of the dark wood that was underneath. I decided to paint it last night. A friend of mine sent me some motivation, unknowingly, by asking my opinion on something she was painting. It reminded me that we had a whole bunch of paint left over from when we had the house painted. I went down into the basement and looked through the colors we had. Peppercorn. A nice cool charcoal gray, Sure, a dark vanity. I decided to go for it. So at nap time I did the prepping and first coat. After bedtime I did the second. Now I'm on a roll and ordered some epoxy to change the counter color and am browsing some accents to tie everything together. I may not have the budget, or the "freedom" to do a whole overhaul or renovation, but I have a little paint and a little time, and a good amount of motivation.

I agree with Susan, a little change can go a long way. I changed out some curtains and it made the entire room look different.
